Getting started after you install
- Pin the YTVT icon to your browser toolbar.
- Sign in and verify your email address.
- Open a page that plays video or audio and start playback.
- Click the YTVT icon, choose a language and start translation. You can stop at any time.
What you need
- Desktop Chrome 116 or later, or Microsoft Edge 117 or later
- A YTVT account with a verified email address
- Translation minutes: 15 free minutes after email verification, or a paid plan
- An internet connection, because translation runs in the cloud
Permissions and privacy
- YTVT captures audio only from the tab you are on, and only after you start translation. It does not ask for access to every website.
- YTVT does not save your audio, translated audio or transcripts. Subtitles are saved only on Pro, and only if you separately turn on subtitle saving.
Where it may not work
- Some sites or protected videos may not allow the extension to capture audio.
- Translation quality and delay depend on the audio, the language and your connection. Do not rely on it for legal, medical or safety decisions.
