Privacy Policy
This policy applies to the YTVT website, browser extensions, official clients that YTVT makes available, accounts, purchases, subscriptions, customer support, and real-time translation services.
1. Information We Process
- Account data: email address, login identifier, email-verification status, display name or nickname if supplied, account ID, plan, and account status.
- Client data: a random installation identifier, client and version, browser or operating-system information, language and mode settings, connection state, and feature preferences.
- Usage data: translation duration, quota used and remaining, session timing, selected features and providers, device-limit state, status counts, and error codes.
- Payment data: plan, subscription status, transaction or order ID, invoice and billing status, cancellation and refund status. Paddle and any enabled payment provider process complete payment-card details; YTVT does not receive or store complete card numbers.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, request time, security and service logs, error codes, and minimized diagnostic information.
- Content data: audio, subtitles, transcripts, and translated text needed to provide real-time translation. Except for the optional Pro subtitle feature described below, this content is processed transiently and is not written to YTVT databases, files, or logs.
- Device storage: necessary cookies and local client storage used for authentication, security, preferences, consent, and payment flows.
- Support data: email, tickets, feedback, order identifiers, and troubleshooting information you choose to submit.
We do not intentionally collect precise location, health information, or complete payment-card information. Approximate region may be inferred from an IP address for security, routing, and legal compliance.
2. How We Use Information
We process information to:
- provide live subtitles, translation, and translated speech;
- authenticate users and securely connect supported clients;
- manage plans, quotas, usage records, device limits, subscriptions, invoices, cancellations, and refunds;
- prevent abuse, investigate fraud, secure accounts, diagnose failures, and maintain reliability;
- respond to support, privacy, deletion, and data-access requests;
- meet payment, tax, legal, store-review, and other compliance obligations; and
- send transactional messages. Marketing messages are sent only where permitted or with consent and include a way to unsubscribe.
3. Audio, Transcript, and Subtitle Boundaries
During a translation session, YTVT sends the audio and related context needed for the selected translation function to the applicable real-time AI or speech provider. Processing stops when the session ends. YTVT does not use audio, transcripts, subtitles, or translated text for targeted advertising.
By default, YTVT does not persist raw audio, translated audio, transcript text, subtitle text, reusable voiceprints, voiceprint vectors, or provider voice IDs. Operational logs contain limited fields such as event name, session identifier, byte count, status, latency, and error code, and are designed to exclude content, tokens, and full URLs.
For more natural translated speech, the selected provider may perform in-session voice processing or select a suitable output voice. These real-time functions do not create a reusable YTVT voice profile. Audio, short-lived acoustic characteristics, selected voice metadata, and provider voice identifiers are not written to YTVT databases, files, or logs for these functions.
The controlled exception is the optional Pro subtitle-document feature. It stores final subtitle text only after a Pro user separately and explicitly opts in. Partial subtitles are not stored. Stored subtitle fields are encrypted at the application layer, content is normally deleted after 30 days, related minimal audit metadata is normally deleted after 90 days, and temporary PDF files are deleted after delivery to the verified account email. Buying or upgrading to Pro does not enable this feature automatically.
4. Providers, Payment Roles, and Disclosure
We use evaluated service providers only as needed to operate YTVT. They support account services, cloud hosting, short-lived session and quota state, transactional email, and selected real-time translation and speech functions.
For enabled paid checkout, Paddle acts as merchant of record and authorized reseller. Paddle independently processes checkout, complete payment details, tax, invoices, fraud controls, and transaction support under Paddle's Buyer Terms, Refund Policy, and Privacy Notice. YTVT receives the limited account, plan, transaction, subscription, invoice, cancellation, and refund metadata needed to provide purchased benefits and customer support.
Real-time audio or transcript content is sent only to the translation or speech provider selected or actually invoked for the session. Current provider categories, purposes, and use conditions are listed on the Third-Party Service Providers page.
We may also disclose limited information when required by law, to protect users or the service, in connection with a valid corporate or publisher transition, or with your direction. We do not sell personal data. We do not transfer personal data for targeted advertising, and we do not use or transfer browsing activity for advertising purposes.
5. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
YTVT's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs and the Chrome extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Extension data is used only to provide or improve the user-facing features described in the extension listing, for security, or as otherwise permitted by that policy. It is not used for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or sale to data brokers.
6. Legal Bases and International Processing
Depending on applicable law and the context, we process information to perform our contract with you, provide features you request, comply with legal obligations, protect legitimate security and operational interests, or act with your consent. Optional Pro subtitle storage and any optional marketing use the consent or choice mechanism described at collection. Consent may be withdrawn for future processing without affecting processing already performed lawfully.
YTVT and its providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where applicable law requires transfer safeguards, we rely on contractual or legally recognized transfer mechanisms. Provider functions and general processing regions are described on the Third-Party Service Providers page and in each provider's privacy notice.
7. Cookies and Local Storage
YTVT uses necessary cookies and browser storage for sign-in, locale and theme preferences, consent state, security, and checkout continuity. We do not currently use advertising cookies. If optional analytics is enabled in the future, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated before use.
8. Retention
Account data is generally retained until the account is deleted. Non-essential account data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days after a completed deletion request. Transient translation content is not retained by YTVT except for the optional Pro feature described above. Usage, billing, tax, dispute, security, abuse-prevention, and support records are retained only for operational or legal needs. Payment, tax, chargeback, and dispute records may be retained for the period required by law or payment-provider rules.
9. Security
YTVT uses encrypted transport, access controls, environment separation, server-side secret management, permission isolation, encryption for stored subtitle content, and log redaction. Provider credentials are not exposed to public clients. No security control can eliminate all risk.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal data; withdraw consent for future processing; and complain to a supervisory authority. Not every right applies in every situation.
You may also delete your account, turn off subscription auto-renewal, disable optional subtitle storage, or unsubscribe from marketing messages. Use the Account Deletion page, visit Support, or email privacy@ytvt.app.
11. Children and Supported Regions
YTVT is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to the processing described here. Users must meet applicable age and eligibility requirements. Availability may vary by region and law.
12. Updates
We may update this policy when products, providers, laws, or processing practices change. Material changes will be announced by email, in-product notice, or website notice where appropriate. The date above shows the latest update.
